Ingenium

Upcoming Ingenium website update

When we discontinued Ingenium as a product in 2014, we removed a lot of links, banners, and information from the website about it. We decided in 2016 to bring Ingenium back. Earlier in January of this year, we made an editing pass at a lot of the content on the website. We rewrote or modified text in all areas of the site. One of the things that we noted is that Ingenium’s web content is lacking in depth compared to our other properties.

We decided to make a formal pass at adding new information and a better introduction to Ingenium on the site.

An update on Ingenium for January

Ingenium Second Edition marches onward. We have a new editor working on the manuscript. We’re finding more artwork to fill the pages. At this point, the most likely release window is going to be sometime in Q2 of this year. Our tentative release date is June 1st.  Read More

Ingenium returns

Over two years ago, we ran a Kickstarter for the second edition of Ingenium. Despite clearing over six thousand dollars, it failed to meet its funding goal. We discussed options. In the end, we went for the nuclear option: to completely drop the Ingenium product line.

Shortly after that, I left Silver Gryphon Games. I stopped playing role-playing games for over a year. In late 2015, something happened that gave me a fresh start on life. As a result, I started looking at things I hadn’t touched in awhile. Role-playing games came back into my life. I began reading through the Ingenium Second Edition manuscript again. Midway through 2016, I rejoined Silver Gryphon Games.

It was inevitable at that point that I would be writing this post. Ingenium Second Edition is happening.

Going forward with Ingenium and Eiridia

The Kickstarter for Ingenium Second Edition failed, but it made a very good showing before it did so. We had over one hundred backers and six thousand dollars pledged. That kind of support can’t simply be ignored, and that’s why we’re not completely ending the Ingenium line. However, we’re making some big changes.

What the likely failure of the Kickstarter means for Ingenium

We’re now on the final day of the Ingenium Second Edition Kickstarter. We still have over two thousand dollars to go, and at the rate we’re getting new backers, we’re not going to make it.

That hurts. It hurts a lot. However, it won’t kill Ingenium.

Ingenium Kickstarter – More Backers!!!

We’re cruising along on the Kickstarter, and while it may look like we’re still quite a way away from our goal with too few days to be successful, the last few days of a Kickstarter are where you usually see the most action! Also, in keeping with our promises to add more content to the book through mini-goals set at every 10 backers and at every $1000, we’re putting new material in the book almost daily!

For a complete list of everything that’s been added, you’ll have to hit the Kickstarter! Click the link over in the side panel and see how you can contribute!

A Quick Start and a Chat

So, if you missed it…

Ben and Kevin were on a chat on RPG.net’s live chat feature. They talked for two hours on all things Ingenium Second Edition, touching on the Quick Start and of course promoting the Kickstarter. A quick rundown of character creation, combat, the world, creatures, and many other topics were touched on.

If you did miss it, click on the link to see the Hardboiled GMShoe’s chat summary of all of the answers that Ben and Kevin gave during the extended time. We went into an additional overtime and kept talking about some other Silver Gryphon related topics. Those aren’t in the chat log on the blog, but Kevin and Ben had a great time hitting all the topics we did.

Ingenium Kickstarter: More material in the book!

As with our last Kickstarter, we decided to implement some micro-goals as we progress through the Ingenium Second Edition we’re adding more weapon and armor materials as well as more Miracles and Rituals to the magic section!

So far, we’ve already added one of each to the core book, with many, many more planned to be added. Hopefully we run out of those and have to work some overtime on this one and create even more materials and even more of these high powered spells that are too specific to be crafted with the Three Word system for creating standard spells.
