Wellstone City Wednesday – Misha’s

Misha is a former Russian hitter that opened a dive bar on the north end of the Artery. The bar opened after the Freelancer Act went in, and it was the first of many Freelancer-catering joints that opened to provide a sort of safe haven and meeting spot for some of Wellstone’s most highly trained individuals.

What started as a place for Freelancers to gather has turned into a veritable help-wanted message board. Complete with its own app, “Misha,” Freelancers that get the rights to get jobs at the bar have access to everything from investigations work to more nefarious tasks. With the crumbling of the major syndicates, it turned into a great place to get all manner of jobs for any Freelancers. But, that comes with the price of admission, which is no mean feat.

Wellstone City Update – Dispatch

Where do the Freelancers go that don’t want anything to do with the syndicates? The lucky ones get a call from Dispatch. This shadow organization is believed to be in Little Italy, but it has nothing to do with the Italian organized crime syndicates. It does, however, have everything to do with helping out the people that the police don’t have time to help and that the organized crime syndicates don’t have on their radars.

“Dispatch here. Do you have forty-five seconds?” is a call that only a very small number of Freelancers get to hear. That is a call reserved for Freelancers who do excellent work, keep on the right side of the law (or at least know how to not get caught), and keep a low profile when on the job. Those that do get that call may not know what it is right away, but after the call is made, there is no mistaking what it is: a ticket to a better life while still doing what they do.

Wellstone City Wednesday – The Bishopric

Donovan Cross is trying to turn over a new leaf, but he’s weighed down by his past and all of the red on his hands. He’s attempting to reform part of the Warrens and build a new apartment building that is the first of its kind. Housing several hundred families as well as entertainment centers, shopping areas, and other amenities, the Bishopric is going to be the tallest building in the city out side of South Rise.

Donovan was playing the long game on this one, and the neighborhood he’s been working on in the Warrens since Public Transit Assassins has finally fallen into his hands. With that done, he understands that the public will be watching, trying to figure out what this crimelord is doing. While it appears he is trying to turn over a new leaf, it seems that he can’t give up his old ways. He has tapped the Commancheros as well as the Wraiths, two gangs that hate each other but are keeping the streets clear while the world looks on and the tower rises.

Wellstone City Wednesday – Sokolov’s Gambit

Soulstice Yoga Studios has been firebombed. While the ashes are still cooling, the owner of the establishment, Anastasia Volken is wanting answers. Her friends-of-friends in the Russian mob have been more than helpful in getting the ball rolling for the investigation, but there’s just one small problem: she doesn’t trust the investigator, a hard-as-nails Russian known only as Sokolov.

The Irish Syndicate is the best lead for placing blame, and while the bomb itself is their style, there are some details that are making Anastasia very apprehensive about placing blame on them. She’d like you to take a closer look at why her studio was bombed. Sure, she’s teaching Krav Maga to freelancers, and of course, the Russians are using her very legitimate business for their own illicit doings, and maybe Anastasia isn’t as squeaky clean as she looks, but that’s never been a problem before.

Wellstone City Wednesday – Big Trouble in Little Haiti

We’re doing Wellstone City Wednesday a little differently this time around and we’re giving it to you in a PDF through our favorite sales point at DriveThru RPG! We’ve made it a little longer than normal, giving you two pages of information instead of just the three paragraphs we usually let you have, allowing it to turn into a full adventure or even campaign arc instead of a plot point as they have been in the past!

Delivering them through DriveThru RPG also allows us to get better feedback, and it should help you find them quicker and faster as well as giving you a convenient way to store them on your electronic devices of choice!

Big Trouble in Little Haiti

This is a set of adventure hooks that gives you a little insight into the seedy underbelly of the least-discussed borough of Wellstone City, Little Haiti. Explore the world of Yves Felix, an up-and-comer in the organized crime world who has his fingers in everything that goes through the Wharf at Little Haiti, and like all powerful men in Wellstone, he wants more.

Tacticon and Labor Day (US)

Well, Tacticon has come and gone, and we had a great time! The convention was staffed by a different group of organizers this time around, and the venue had switched from Aurora to Colorado Springs. There were a few other changes as well, and it was an interesting switch for the convention overall.

We love seeing some of our favorite conventions try new things and expand to different areas. This time around there were more Cosplay aspects than the Tacticons we had previously attended, and there was also a strong showing for war gaming, board gaming, and computer gaming. The vendor hall was chock full of artists and had a spectacular showing for Star Wars, particularly by the 501st, a charity organization that has done some pretty incredible things (You should take a few minutes and check them out:!

Wellstone City Wednesday – The Shadow of the Blackhand

Yesterday morning, the Chief of Police was captured by a rogue cell from within Blackhand Security. They car jacked him and kidnapped him outside of his home while he was on his way to work; this was part of an ongoing series of hits between the police and Blackhand in the Battery. The carjacking and kidnapping is by far the boldest move, but the police are worried about escalation. The media has been made aware of this, but so far, they are managing to keep a lid on it.

The PCs hear about the incidents from a rogue member of Blackhand Security; he just wants it all to stop before things turn to an all-out war between the private security force and the police. A duo of Albanians has also been tapped; they are fresh upstarts that want to gain a little influence by helping, but they know they are horribly out-gunned here, and they promise to give a little support to the PCs as needed.

A Thule and His Money…

I have a couple things I want to say before the press release that would normally go here…  I wanted to take a few minutes and tell you how excited I am about our new release A Thule and His Money.
This one has been a really long time coming, and you know what? That’s ok, and here’s why.

It’s awesome. (I can tell you that without even feeling weird because I didn’t write it, put art in it, edit it or anything. My entire JOB in this release is writing this post, something I normally never do, and sharing some links. I didn’t tell them I was going to rave about it this way but shhh, that’ll be our little secret) Now, I tell Ben and Kevin all the time how much I like their stuff, but this one, this is pretty special.  Seriously, you want to take a look at this even if you haven’t taken the time to fall in love with Wellstone City before.  I think Kevin has been working on this one almost as long as I’ve been working here and I’ve never heard him as excited about something as he was with this release. He said yesterday or the day before he’s really happy with it and feels like it’s some of his best work. If you know Kevin, you know that’s pretty exciting!

Wellstone City, 1937

It’s hot, and it’s about to get hotter.

A letter was delivered by courier and it asks you to have a meeting at the Three Oaks. You know the place…it’s that ritzy joint in Old Fort. Some guy named Van Hammer. Sounds familiar, but you can’t quite place it. Sounds kind of dangerous, and you can picture what happens when people disappoint him. That and he gave you $100 just to show up with a promise of more.  A hundred bucks! That’s a good chunk of a new car!

Maybe it won’t hurt to see what he needs. Or maybe it’ll hurt like hell.

Join your characters as they start in Wellstone City after a meeting out of the blue, with a promise of a huge pay check. They just have to travel to the mainland to get some antique from a retiree and then catch a zeppelin to Greece. But, a simple smash and grab isn’t so simple when dealing with internal power struggles with two separate secret societies, especially when they’re both telling you different sides of the truth. Let your characters sort out their own destiny as they choose what side to align themselves with.

If they survive.

So now, I’d like to personally invite each of you to step into what is already being considered the “most pulp-driven adventure” that Silver Gryphon Games has ever produced…and those aren’t MY words. I already told you what I thought right before I shared that with you.

So go on…

Start with your characters in Wellstone City and travel with them to the mainland, take a zeppelin across the Atlantic, and land in picturesque Greece.

Along the way fight with and against two Secret Societies as they wage a silent war against each other for control of a single artifact, the Orb of Akrotiri!

This 30 page adventure is available now in either Savage Worlds or for the Æther System.

Finish the adventure off by getting the large-scale maps from Fabled Environments in PDF and print off the Mansion and the Airship as many times as you need, or purchase them in large-sized, already printed, ready to use versions of the Mansion and the Airship, right from Silver Gryphon Games
